A tour of Caroline's Quilts

Drunkards Chain This is the first thing I ever started. It's hand pieced. I got sick of it, so added a big border. It's the reverse of the bears paw quilt below.

Geese & Bears This started off as a wall hanging and grew a bit !

This was the first quilt I ever finished, and was certainly a learning experience. I learned that I don't like using polyester batting, not to put on wide borders when you can't think of a quilting pattern, and not to use a machine quilted pattern that involves a lot of starting and stopping.

These three mini-quilts are wall hangings, each about 30" square that we hang at the top of the stairs

Playing with fabric paintsThis is what we did on Spring Bank Holiday Monday (Memorial Day). Caroline made the piece on the right, subtitled "Explosion in a Paint Factory", aka New Mexico Sunset. David made the rest, including the silk tie.

This is a classic example of how not to photograph a quilt. The perspective is caused by it being on the floor and me being stood on a chair. In reality, the corners are right angles. Honest.

This is from the book "PS, I Love You Two". It uses hexagons of conversation fabric. In the black border around the edge are the names of things you can see in the quilt. The close-up of the border shows details of the embroidery and of the dinosaur border that David designed. It was English paper pieced and hand quilted. It's roughly 46"x53". I cheated with the border lettering - courtesy of a font cartridge for the New Home 8000, despite sweating, trying to get the blasted letters to line up. It nearly went through the window on more than one occasion.
